Extraterrestrials-On-Earth Claim
Instructions: Is the claim made in the ETs-on-Earth passage reasonable and possibly true?
SEARCH the following passage, from page 92 of How to Think About Weird Things:
The evidence that extraterrestrials are visiting Earth and currently operating in our skies on a regular uninterrupted basis is extensive beyond a shadow of a doubt both in scope and detail. In its totality it comprises a body of evidence so profound that it has numbed the human experience of all government and religious leaders around the world into an absolute de facto policy of denial. This would also include most if not all members of the mainstream scientific community who fear the social stigma associated with the subject. (From a UFO/alien visitation Web site.)

Extraterrestrials-On-Earth Claim
The ability of human beings to reason and other additional physical attributes that they possess is in no doubt what sets people apart from other living creatures on earth. Such abilities such as observation, correct reasoning and experimentation have contributed in making a human being dominant upon earth. It has also improved the quality of individual life. Science has played a major role in our thinking, reasoning and beliefs. This essay will justify that the claim of presence of extraterrestrials on earth is reasonable and genuine.
To begin with, various types of logical fallacies can justify the existence of extraterrestrials presence in the land. Firstly, there is a fallacy of argument from ignorance, also known as “Argumentum de Ignoratiam.” Argument from ignorance suggests that one assumes that since something or a claim is yet to be proved false, then it is concluded that the claim must be true. With this claim that extraterrestrials are not on earth, not proven yet, then it is true that they do exist. This fallacy is at times an erroneous reasoning technique. Also, there is a fallacy of argument from authority also known as “Argumentum ad Verecundiam” is present in justifying that aliens exist on earth. When Jimmy Carter was not elected as the president of the US, he claimed to have seen some lights from the sky, and he announced that he had witnessed UFOs. After he was elected as a president of the most powerful nation in the world, this sole fact that he is recognized as a man of the robust moral constitution and utmost sobriety is enough reason for UFOs proponents to claim the fact the extraterrestrials beings are present on earth.
Additionally, fallacies of inconsistency and false analogy can justify the fact that the claim is true. First, the fallacy of false analogy happens when the foundations used to make the analogy are not comparable in significance and scope (Edmund, Stolarz-Fantino and Navarro 109). For instance, to prove that this claim is true, take an example of if the dealer signs a certificate, it proves that fact that Ryan purchased the T.V. Also if a certificate is signed by a UFO witness is proof that alien ships are visiting the earth. Lastly, the fallacy of inconsistency occurs where an assertion is supported by mutually opposing premises, case in point; UFO proponents claim that aliens use more advanced weapons and technology that they are invisible to radars. On the other hand, they assert that radar detection is proof that there is extraterrestrial life on earth.
It is indeed evident that this claim is true at some point, evidence and tests from science and technology have fully inferred the presence of paranormal activities. Magnetic and geological studies on a survey of many areas on earth have revealed magnetic glitches and anomalies that could not be generated by any normal activity or any known phenomenon. Infrequently, aliens have a way to reveal themselves in our measurable space-time. They are using advanced technology that is beyond our understanding to reveal their presence, and such can be detected by the absurd readings and observation on the radar meters and magnetic anomalies
Recent development in the technology of cosmology, astrobiology, and physics suggest that human beings are a part of cosmic civilization just as the aliens are in an advanced cosmic civilization (Schick and Vaughn 92). Scientists like Frank Drake, suggest that the sky is not only made up of littered microwave transmitters, but it is a possibility of advanced technology carried out in some way other than conventional radio transmission (UFO Evidence). From the UFO website, Dr. Steven Greer suggests that the earth is visited by one or more extraterrestrial beings. In totality, it includes vast research and programs, and serious diplomatic initiatives are warranted to prove such a civilization on earth. Also, the belief of cosmic pluralism justifies the claim that there are other living creatures on the other cosmic systems. After the recognition that the Sun is just one of the stars, cosmic pluralism has been geared towards a possibility of extraterrestrials beings present in a civilized society out there (Crowe). Just as humans want to explore the universe, so as the aliens would want to explore and study the earth. Judgmentally, such a statement might be true.
Conclusively, from the logical fallacies that are coined with this claim, as a UFO proponent, there is enough reasoning to justify the claim, extraterrestrials on earth. Also, the principles that guide this idea are somewhat evident, and UFO proponents are arguing factually.
Cultural beliefs like cosmic civilization presence in the universe are also the boosters to ascertain this claim. The fact that is intelligence is functional here and our symbiotic relationship with something that masquerades itself so as not to harm us (Schick and Vaughn 93). It is authoritative that we participate and allocate full resources directly to monitor and prove this claim. Through ample analysis and checks, we can table reports to prove each claim we make. Therefore, as scientists and proponents of UFO, we must work hard and improve our technologies to detect more evidence of these extraterrestrials on earth. The existence of extraterrestrials in the land that we live in is reasonable and genuine.
