The modifications that are necessary in my lesson plan to address the needs of English learning Learners is by ensuring the lesson plan is effectively structured by having an explicit instruction and modeling, assessing the content as well as ensuring that he lesson plan offers an opportunity for a teacher to interact with the students and also use of peer interactions (Bliss & Macrae, 1996). For those students with special needs the lesson plan should make the objectives of learning clear and easy to understand and the teacher should provide visual aids if necessary to enable the students with special needs to understand the objectives set in the lesson plan. In scaffolding, the teacher may decide to preview the passage and discuss the main vocabularies (Gibbons, 2002). In case of those students who are yet to learn how to read, the teacher can decide to give a different task that the learner can easily understand.
