He highlighted that the fact that public policy only functions when enforced by efforts of line agencies and bodies. Among them was 83rd precinct officer – D.I. Tolentino. He emphasized that they ensure execution of public policy in the performance of the functions of the represented agencies(Maurer & Smith, 2013).
- District Office Report
The office noted that regulations on round-taking in hospital wards and those with regard to qualification for licensing to practice nursing have led to reduced inpatient numbers in the hospitals(Stanhope &Lancster, 2015). He recognized the fact that public policies that are enforced to the latter lead to improvement in indicators of performance in nursing practiced and protection of the health needs of patients(Maurer & Smith, 2013). In addition, it was reported that the department of health was planning to introduce rules with regard to emergency services and this was in regard to free nursing services to all victims of accidents. This was in line with the manifesto of the ruling regime which prioritized to expand access to healthcare for those who need them.
- Recommendations
- Ensuring that reports on patients accessing free and subsidized nursing services are delivered
- Workshops to be undertaken to expose practitioners to public policies that impact on their practice
- Enforcement agencies to evaluate compliance with and performance in accordance with parameters stipulated in public policy(Mason et al., 2013).
- Carry out survey on measuring the impact of policies in intensifying job satisfaction among nurses.
- There should be ways of creating a connection between nurses and policy makers to achieve policy frameworks that address nursing issues directly.
- Public health programs that are multidisciplinary should also consider integrating nurses since they exclude them when nursing is basic to clinical and medical programs.
- Old Business
- Progress on compliance with parameters of performance appraisals for nurses
- New Business
- Arrange for facilitators in public policy workshops to be undertaken in a month’s time.
- The suggestion by a member about the need for mental health accommodation and reasonable housing for low income families was to be put on the agenda for discussion in the next meeting.
