My favorite quote is a quote by Ricky Gervais which states that, “You should bring something into the world that was not in the world before. It doesn’t matter what it is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a table or a film or gardening-everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, ‘I did that’.” The quote emphasizes on creativity and the fact that people should not fear to come up with new ideas and innovations. Gervais, is a British actor, writer, comedian, singer, presenter, children novelist and a director. He became popular in 1982 where he, in collaboration with his college comrade, Bill Macrae formed a duo called Siona Dancing and released two singles, ‘Bitter Heart’ and More to Lose’. Since then, Ricky has been a famous figure in the entertainment industry. This quote was taken from one of his numerous stand up comedies.
I love this favorite quote because it is very empowering and very purposeful. It empowers one to look forward to the future and seek to leave a legacy. Unlike many other inspirational instances, however, which usually tend to make the issue of leaving a legacy a daunting one, Ricky’s quote makes the task seem so simple and easy to achieve. He challenges one to leave a legacy as simple as a table. The only condition he imposes is that we bring something into the world that was not there before. For me, Ricky’s quote has served to both challenge and empower. I have adapted it and modified it into my life such that I always like to ask myself on a periodic basis, usually a month, what I have brought into the world. The magnificence of this quote lies in its sheer simplicity. For example, whenever I question myself on what I have brought into the world, sometimes the answer is usually as simple as an idea, or a smile to someone’s face. On my part, the impact is that I end up feeling much better and much more satisfied.

Teachers play an important role in our lives through the provision of good education which goes a great way in impacting our future. They teach us to become professionals while at the same time giving us hard lessons about life itself. Teachers, therefore, have an important influence in our lives, which extends even in old age and impacts our decisions in real life.
One of the most significant teachers to have ever taught me was Mr. Baldinelli, my 9th grade history teacher. As a teacher, he carried on his duties with an air of pride and his lectures in class were well prepared, interesting and put across with a melodramatic aptitude exhibiting his actor’s training. Although his vast knowledge in history and related disciplines were educative and increased my interest in history, it was his way of balancing his career and his passion that particularly captured my attention. Most teachers I have met have dedicated their whole lives to teaching, often neglecting their personal lives beyond the classroom. Mr. Baldinelli was different. He was an adventurist who travelled the world extensively, working with different world organizations and famous people. One time he narrated how he had enjoyed interacting and working with the most famous English singer, composer and pianist, Elton John. I remember vowing that from that day I would follow my passion. He thus inspired me to look for my passion in life beyond the mundane and to travel as much as possible so as to learn new things. To him, experiences are far more meaningful than material possessions. Coincidentally, I have always had a passion for travelling and his teaching has to date helped me to pursue my passion.

If I could visit any country in the world, it would undoubtedly have to be New Zealand. Found in the far South East of the globe, New Zealand comprises one of the most interesting archipelagos in the globe. There are many features of New Zealand that make me feel so drawn towards it. They range from its geography, its landscape, its people and their culture. As an archipelago, New Zealand comprises of many different islands, with two main ones. The geography and size of New Zealand can be quite confusing, since it makes the country appear smaller than it actually is. Interestingly, New Zealand has a larger geographical area than the United Kingdom (268,838 sq. km versus 243,610 sq. km respectively). Conversely, New Zealand’s population is over 14 times less that of the United Kingdom.
One of the top reasons why I would love to visit New Zealand is to experience its unique geographical sceneries. The island nation has a number of active volcanoes and frequently experiences earthquakes. The country has many bewildering sceneries such as its Southern Alps and its Fiordlands. New Zealand also has a rich and highly diverse bio culture. It is home to such unique fauna as the Kiwi, which is also its national symbol, the Kakapo and the Weka. Another fascinating feature about New Zealand is its people and culture. For me, I have always been captivated by New Zealand’s outstanding rugby culture. Its national teams, the All Blacks, are renowned worldwide for their dominance of the sport. And it’s not just their dominance in the game. I extremely love the Hakka that they traditionally perform right before the game. Apart from rugby, I would also love to experience more of the Maori culture and their way of life. Just like the aboriginals in Australia, the Maori are one of the most culturally unique people in the world. New Zealand is truly a conurbation of geography, climate, bio culture and people. The country also has beautiful beaches. There is so much to experience in New Zealand and this is why I would love to visit this country.
