Group Experience Reflection: A High Point and a Low Point
Our group experience was marked by both high points and low points, all of which contributed to the outcome of our work. A major high point of the study was that the members were highly cooperative when it came to engaging in extensive research on their selective topics and presenting their findings to the group during the group meetings. Each member showed their will to take part in the group work even as they consulted each other throughout the assignments and ensured that there was a sync among the findings. Members who went astray and away from the subject were quickly corrected by the others and importantly, they showed receptiveness towards any advice that was offered by their fellow group members. Another high point involved the establishment and respect of leadership positions in the group. Our group has two leadership positions, which included the chairperson and the secretary. The roles that accompany these positions, especially the chairperson’s position, were accorded the respect they deserve. Each member of the group was keen to accomplish part of their task as allocated by the chairperson and to submit it to the secretary prior to presentation to the group.
Nevertheless, as much as the group experienced moments of good tidings, it was also hit by one major low point, absenteeism. Group meetings were organized and scheduled by the chairperson in consultation with the rest of the group members. As such, such meetings were organized based on how convenient it was for all the members, with the intent of ensuring that all the members attended and that the subject of research were addressed collaboratively. In addition, it was expected that such meetings would allow each member to learn about the other elements of the topic that have been addressed by the rest of the group members. Nevertheless, the group experienced various cases of absenteeism and extreme lateness. As much as some of the cases of absenteeism came with apologies, they had a detrimental effect on the cohesion of the group, even as some of the members started feeling as if they were doing so much for the absent members.
