An Analysis of Organizational Change
Introduction
Organizations change and adapt to the business environment to remain competitive. The change process is driven by various strategic considerations such as the need for better-integrated methods of working and the necessity to improve business performance (Judge, 2013). Therefore, the paper presents an understanding of managing organizational change, effective drivers of change, and the view on change concerning resistance and whether a change is a good or bad thing.
Managing organizational change
Managing organizational change is the process by which organizations identify change areas, plan the adaption to change, and implement the transformation from an existing state to a desired future state (Buklaha, 2014). In the current business world, it is impossible to avoid change due to the intensified competition that is brought about by the exploitation of technological advancements. Therefore, firms need to adapt strategies for survival. Besides, the changes in consumer demographics create new customer demands that forces enterprises to respond accordingly to satisfy the customers (Jovanovic, 2015).
For change to become effective, an organization needs to encourage a grass roots approach as compared to the leadership style. The grass roots approach promotes social support and hence helps to overcome the cultural resistance among employees. The grass roots methodology helps in identifying cultural elements that align to the change, display the elements to the foreground so as to attract the attention of the people who become affected by the change.
The complexity of both internal and external business environments makes change to become inevitable. Furthermore, change plays a vital role in meeting the demands of internal and external business environment (Mosadeghrab, 2014).
