Cloud Computing Essay.
Cloud computing offers business many benefits. It allows the subscribers to the platform the opportunity to have a virtual office thus giving them the flexibility of linking to their businesses from any location at any time. The direct cost benefit of using the cloud computing is the reduced cost of maintaining and managing the IT systems. The private platform requires rather simple gadgets which are sourced by the cloud computing service givers. This helps reduce the cost by reducing the delay times, personal energy consumption cost is reduced and with the technology, there is reduced payment of wages to the expert staff. During the contracting time, the cost of software and hardware may be negotiated in the contract which further reduced the operating cost of the service (HTS, 2013).
In public PAAS cloud computing the benefits includes less electricity usage. When the business has its own data center it incurs more cost for electricity, the transition from the own data center to the cloud gives company reduced cost of the electricity. Cloud computing has no capital costs. Every upgrade of servers or the software is not a liability of the business. The platform allows the users to have new technology without adding the capital costs. Another cost benefit is that the cloud computing eliminates the need for IT employees in the company to keep monitoring the servers or fixing them. They can, therefore, use their time to improve productivity in other areas of the workplace (Hinchcliffe, 2012).
The use of cloud computing platforms enables the company
to have reduced expense by virtue of the reduction of staff. The company which
uses the technology does not have to spend money recruiting staff and paying salaries.
A shift to the cloud, however, need experience and specialized workers but the
profit after training the staff outweighs the cost of using the conventional
use of servers. Getting the cloud
compute resources at the time of need shorten the IT projects hence reduced FTE
making the time to deliver a project more predictive and quicker. The ability
to deliver a project faster increase the competitive edge of the business hence
increased profits (Nanath, 2013).
