There is currently a contention over the effectiveness of Gardasil in the prevention of cervical cancer. Many parents have filed complaints that the drug has only injured their daughters. As a result, the researchers gathered some data on the Gardasil dosage and the total blood count in order to determine whether there is any correlation between the two. The research question was whether Gardasil really prevents cervical cancer.
The null hypothesis was that Gardasil dosage is not correlated with complete blood count. The research hypothesis, which was being tested was that the Gardasil dosage is correlated with complete blood count. The t-test was used in testing the correlation between the two variables and come up with valid conclusions. The test was carried out at a 95% level of confidence.
The test statistic generated was -145.876, which is much less than the critical value, -1.9955. According to the decision rule, the null hypothesis was to be rejected if the value of the test statistic was not between -1.9955 and 1.9955. Therefore, according to our test, the null hypothesis was rejected.
We, therefore, concluded that the Gardasil dosage is correlated with complete blood count at the 95% confidence level. To test this correlation and determine how strong it is, we calculated the correlation coefficient, which was 0.120099. According to this correlation coefficient, there is a weak correlation between the Gardasil dosage and complete blood count. The weak correlation suggests that the drug can only be partially relied upon. Another suggestion from this study is that there must be other variables that will affect the effectiveness of Gardasil in preventing cervical cancer.
