Nursing Recommendations
With the contemporary scarcity of nursing jobs across the globe, I would prefer competing in the job market as an option as well as recommendation by doubling the number of nurses with a doctorate by the year 2020 (Martin & Sheaves, 2014). As such, this recommendation is based upon the provision of employment opportunities to the current generation of nurses across the globe. There is a dire need to double the number of nurses. With such an analogy in context, it will be imperative to double the number of the nurse through the provision of an 80% increase in baccalaureate degree as well as a doctorate by 2020 (Battié, 2013). It can be efficient for new nurses to secure positions and the outgoing nurses can start of their private clinical care centers as they have experienced more during their working years. Since I possess a master’s degree, my dreams of becoming a nurse educator are viable.
As such, this recommendation creates a pool; of benefits to both the outgoing nurse and the incoming nurses in a way that; it creates new employment opportunities for new graduates, it ensure that clinic-based options for outgoing nurses who have undertaken training are catered for duly, it promotes continuous and circular processes to learn as well as settle and it sets up classroom experience to clinical practice (Iglehart, 2013).
Furthermore, as the job market for nurses has shifted drastically, nurses are now looking for new pathways in search for employment. In regard to recommendation 6 by ensuring that nurses have a lifelong learning, such an opportunity will predispose my initiatives in keeping clinical practice updated and safer as I majorly focus on evidence-based research which will enable better patient outcomes through evidence-based clinical practice.
As a nurse, there are some options within the nursing job market such as being a primary care nurse, a nurse educator, a pediatric nurse, an emergency care nurse, a clinician and so on. My perspectives opt for being a nurse educator so that I can keep learning more and giving more knowledge to other upcoming nurses in the job market.
Increasing my level of education will reduce the competitive nature as I search for a nursing job within the market. Arguably, the fact that most individuals in the country are now undertaking nursing course either as a DNP or Ph.D. levels, it is now competitive to secure a job as a nurse. As such, the most necessary tool that one can use is to increase their level of education to stay at the top of the competition pyramid.
With the increase in some patients in hospitals today, it is necessary that some nurses are employed within the hospital settings. In as much as the healthcare industry needs more nurses, there is still more diminished patients outcomes cases. How will nurses improve patient outcomes in this case? The fact that nurses are fully employed just after finishing a baccalaureate degree predisposes care delivery to poor patient outcomes. My perspectives lie within utilization of evidence-base practice to care. As such, to improve the skills of evidence-based practice in care delivery, nurses need to further their education not only to compete in the market but also to provide the best for their patients.
Increasing the level of my education will further affect my nursing role in future as a nurse as well as an educator. Earning a Ph.D. degree in Nursing will enable me to have more managerial skills as well as the expertise to conduct an assessment on new nurses to better patient outcomes. Furthermore, my role as a registered nurse will change in a way that I will be using evidence-based research to foster treatment in my administration in any hospital organization. Furthermore, I will be more communicative to my peers in regard to promoting better programs to administer health interventions as well as how hospitals can link with the other professionals to better patient outcomes.
Conclusively, all the recommendations entail that a nurse must be able
to increase their level of education to fit in the job market. The current job
market is competitive, and nurses need
more education to secure better positions within healthcare. Furthermore, it
not only about securing a position in the job market but also having the
critical thinking skills and knowledge that is necessary to better patient
outcomes within healthcare. By the year
2020, I see myself completing all the
required degrees up to a Ph.D. level in nursing as well as management
which will entirely change my role as a nurse in the hospital unit. Through
this, I will be able to fulfill my vision of offering the best care to patients and saving the world from
fatal diseases.
