Solution
Precision Lawncare and Landscape
Precision Lawncare and Landscape offers services by improving the homes of its clients. They target the homes that own massive yards and have a problem in keeping them all under suitable conditions.
Headline
Where the blade meets the grass.
Problem
Many families have large yards that are proving difficult to manage.
We do general yard labour apart from mowing at pocket-friendly rates.
Maintenance and care of flowerbeds and home gardens can be quite challenging.
Removal of snow during winter.
Owners do not know how to take care of garden pests naturally.
Solution
To offer competitive rates that will make people choose to do business with the company.
We will train homeowners on methods they can use to minimise pest infestation in their flowerbeds.
The company will offer snow removal services throughout the winter months to ensure that the business cycle goes all year.
Target Market
Our primary goal is the homeowners that have large yards needing maintenance. Middle-class families with large gardens often have a problem in maintaining a neat lawn (Entrepreneur, 2008). We will target families that earn $50,000 a year since they have disposable income to spend on maintenance. However, we will structure costs to cater to other families that make less. We also offer our services to industrial and commercial facilities that need their grounds manicured or hedges trimmed. Commercial facilities include schools, business parks, apartment complexes, and hospitals.
Competitive Landscape
The company is based in West Central Indiana where moist homes are huge, and there are vast tracts of farmland. There is enormous market potential Indiana, and the business is going to grow rapidly.
There are four main competitors in the landscaping space offering a variety of services:
Mike and Sons Mowers- they provide mowing services alone, their operation is based off a single truck, and hence it gives us an opportunity since some commercial entities would demand more professionalism.
Ramsey Lawn Service- it is a three-man operation team offering lawn, and flowerbed services to residential areas but they have a limited client base that mainly consists of smaller homes. They also lay patio bricks.
LawnGrown- it is a family owned business that has four trucks, but their equipment is old and their methods are not cost-effective. The two sons are planning to get out of the mowing business when their father retires, and hence they could end up shutting down.
Ginobili Garden Services- it is a decent operation owned by a team of university graduates. They have modern equipment, and their methods are similar to what we intend to roll out. Most of their clients are commercial and residential, and they perform excellent work. Their business is growing rapidly, and yet they only occupy a small geographical range leaving a huge market that is untapped.
Funding Needs
We need the following assets:
- 2 Mower operation
- Hedge Trimmers
- Grass Clipping collection units for every mower
- 25-foot long landscaping trailer
- $30,000 Operating capital loan
Sales channels
Precision Lawn Care and Landscape will go to a particular neighbourhood and move from door to door offering the services to potential customers. A young sales team will move from house to house, become familiar with the residents, and build rapport that may lead to sales.
We will start by setting up our office and purchasing all the lawn equipment, as stated, from a reputable distributor. As we set up the operation, the sales team will scour the neighbourhoods looking for overgrown lawns and then pitching our services to the residents. The sales team will be well trained on how to be convincing to attract the clients. This direct approach allows for natural business since some people will be pleased to have the service at their doorstep. The hot days are the best to offer our services since people are unwilling to work under the scorching sun.
We will approach corporate institutions and make a tender to take care of their grounds for three months at half the cost they pay currently. If they are pleased with our services, the price will go up to a reasonable rate that we will agree mutually. Precision Lawncare will hand out brochures with images of our previous works to inspire confidence among the commercial institutions. Our extensive array of services means there is the capacity to handle a range of lawn related issues.
Marketing Activities
The company will create a profile on social media sites Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube among others. We will display pictures of our previous works while advertising our services to the followers and friends. We will also have our website where all matters related to our company will be accessible to all.
Posters and putting flyers in mailboxes as our sales people canvass the neighbourhoods (Suggett, 2016).
We will hire billboards in convenient locations that are visible by a majority of our clients.
Forecast
When we open for business, we anticipate working on an average of fifteen lawns per week, from the third week. The first three weeks will mostly consist of vigorous marketing and get familiar with the residents while campaigning actively on social media. We expected to rise to twenty-five lawns per week after three months of business, as word-of-mouth will spread the message of our excellent services.
Milestones
Milestones are significant since thy enable us to understand the priorities of the business (Coughter, 2012). We will hire a temporary sales team of four to canvass the neighbourhoods looking for potential clients while placing flyers in mailboxes. Two workers will follow up to conduct the actual landscaping or mowing to customers. After three months, we will part with the sales team and depend on our track record, contacts and word of mouth.
Team and Roles
Precision Lawncare and Landscape will consist of three permanent staff. The owner and two labourers. Owner will coordinate the activities of the labourers and negotiate with clients. The two workers are skilled landscapers who will handle their roles efficiently.
Partners and Resources
We
will collaborate with a sales team for the initial three months to spread the
message quickly around the neighbourhoods.
