SAP Talk at UHD by SAP VP Jeff Word Video Critique
The integration of different software and various internet applications in business continues to influence all aspects of business operations, interaction, and integration and shape the future of organizational management, production, distribution, and sale. Currently, the business world is run by software and the internet remains central in influencing all aspects of business and existence. More and more businesses continue to adopt and implement different technological tools to increase efficiency in the systems and processes and improve quality and productivity. The future belongs to those who invest heavily in technological tools, efficient software, improved organizational performance and efficiency, product and quality improvement, research and development, and innovation and creativity. Also, even as computer applications continue to diversify, the need to identify the most efficient software, internet platforms, and technologies to incorporate in running a business is critical for present organizational development and insuring the future of the organization. This essay is a video critique aimed at the identification of the importance of software integration in business and the management of enterprise systems.
Dr. Jeff Word offers expert opinion and depicts an in-depth understanding of the issue, the role of software and the internet in the world of business and the need for the integration of efficient software (specifically the SAP) in business management, production and sale. As the Vice President of the Product Strategy, Database & Technology (SAP SE), Word possesses critical knowledge of the SAP and its effectiveness upon proper application. Word has worked in the SAP SE for over 15 years, created and communicated through leadership on the company’s In-Memory database strategy across the globe. Additionally, the speaker has authored or co-authored multiple best-sellers on the topic of SAP or related topics. Further, the author has extensive knowledge in information systems and strategy and his focus on event-driven process design makes him a credible speaker on matters technology and software application in the management of organization systems and processes. Considering the above mentioned, a video by Dr. Jeff Word on SAP and its application in business is critical to enhancing understanding of the use of software applications in business.
According to Word, the world of business is currently run by software and the future will record an even increased integration of the internet and software in business. With the recognition of the importance of the internet and software applications in the enhancement of efficiency in organizational processes and systems, all businesses focus on the integration and implementation of software. All processes from the purchase of raw materials to the production, distribution and sale require efficiency for the achievement of the set organizational goals. Word outlines the increased adoption and use of software and its role in changing business operations. Following the extensive application of the internet and software application, he asserts that software and the Internet run the world of business. According to Motiwalla and Thompson (2014), the recent years have recorded the immense application of software and the integration of effective online platforms in the management of enterprise systems for the improvement of quality of production and delivery of services. As such, Dr. Word is right to argue that the internet and software run the business world.
Through an easy-to-understand chart, Dr. Word outlines the importance of corporate strategy in the development of the organization and the need to foster strategic agility through an efficient software application. Corporate strategy guides all operations in an organization and organizations strive to achieve the set objectives in line with the strategy. However, there is a need for the organization to continuously adjust in accordance with the ties and circumstances. Strategic agility allows such adjustment to improve the quality of products and services, the creation of new business models, and the advancement of innovation to improve quality and create value. Word posits that the application of the SAP enables strategic agility through the enhancement of efficiency in decision-making, flexibility, and allows the effective execution of duties, monitoring and the evaluation of organizational processes. Moreover, the author argues that strategic agility is critical for the efficient management of enterprise systems and requires the application of effectual software for the improvement of efficiency in all processes. While this is the case, (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2014) support the author by pointing out the critical role the strategic agility plays in enhancing organizational development.
Moreover, Word depicts a deep understanding of the element of risk and the need for the application of effective software in identifying, monitoring, evaluating, and eliminating risk in an organization. On the issue of data management, Dr. Word asserts that the management must focus on reducing the threat of crashing systems by applying the SAP. The software works well in the identification and monitoring of risk in a system to allow for efficiency in the management of data and avoid and eliminate risks. However, numerous organizations still apply various applications in managing data thus causing inefficiency and making it difficult to identify risks. Using multiple applications spreads the risk and hides it in the systems. As such, a company must first understand the risk profile and identify the risk. The application of the SAP by numerous organizations globally has depicted its ability to identify and monitor risks thus boosting organizational efficiency. According to (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2014), it is important to identify and monitor risks in order to assess the possibility of occurrence/recurrence, allow the evaluation the quality of the existing controls and responses.
According to Dr. Word, organizations should apply software to enhance accountability, improve sustainability, align processes and systems with the corporate strategy, and create awareness of critical issues within the organization and the society. Software application has proved effective in the enhancement of accountability in all processes within organizations. It allows effective monitoring of processes of buying, selling, and production and ensures accountability throughout all processes. Of greater importance, however, software application should work on improving sustainability by minimizing inefficiency in supply chains and considering socio-economic and environmental concerns (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2014). Further, organizations need to utilize the different online platforms and software to create awareness on social and environmental issues through initiatives. However, all the processes must align with the corporate strategy. The effectiveness of software application and the achievement of the above mentioned will depend significantly on the implementation. According to (Motiwalla & Thompson, 2014), effective implementation of enterprise systems enhances efficiency and triggers the overall success of the organization.
In conclusion, enterprise systems are critical
for the enhancement of efficiency of business processes and systems. The
adoption and implementation of effective software in organization thus improves
organizational efficiency, improves performance and productivity and causes the
sustainable development of the organization. The overall development of organizations
depends, however, on the practical implementation of the enterprise systems. The
incorporation and implementation of SAP in numerous companies around the world
has revealed the effectiveness of the software application and holds a great
promise for the future. There is a need for organizations to focus on
implementing efficient software applications such as the SAP. This will foster
increased productivity, allow quality improvement in products and services, and
ensure the overall development of the organizations.
