Time Management and Higher Level Thinking
Instructions:
Higher-Level Thinking (or Critical Thinking) involves making connections between what you’re trying to learn and what you already know. When you learn something deeply, it is stored in the brain as a link in an interconnected network of brain cells. Critical Thinking requires two distinctively different processes: active engagement and reflection. In this assignment you will be asked to actively read through the Critical Thinking Skills section of Lumen Learning.

Solution
Time Management and Higher Level Thinking
Introduction
I managed to score full mark in the quiz because I used critical thinking to form the answers. Critical thinking is a necessary trait for all decision makers. However, I think my critical thinking skills could get much better if I utilised several strategies to enhance them.
I will utilise three strategies to increase my skills as a critical thinker and improve my ability to solve problems efficiently. The first step involves defining the problem to understand it better. The second strategy involves identifying appropriate solutions to the problem. Finally, I will use logic to pick the best option from the completed list.
It is important to define the problem and understand it before rushing into a situation (Courses.lumenlearning.com, 2016). I will gather the necessary information regarding an issue and organise it in a logical manner. I will look at various angles of the problem to understand all the implications. Looking at past examples of similar problems will increase the knowledge of the intricate details.
Identifying solution is a process that comes from brainstorming or using other sources to analyse possible remedies to the problem. These solutions should be efficient and impartial, and hence keenness is vital during the process. The solutions should consider all the consequences and implications and have a factual basis.
Selecting the solution is a strategy that involves understanding the people or situation affected by the decision. In some cases, there are numerous solutions to a problem, but critical thinkers have to come up with one that fits the situation. For example, it might be prudent to go with the majority in some cases where people are involved.
Conclusion
Critical thinking is a skill that most students are
required to have before joining the outside world. It gives people the chance
to make decisions based on fact and evidence (Wiley,
2015). The strategies ensure that a situation is analysed thoroughly
before proposing a solution.
